I recently shot a unconventional wedding in the Wisconsin northwoods. This couple, Jo + Logan, reached out to me about a very intimate cabin wedding they were doing at Diamond Lake, Wisconsin. They shared their vision and intentions for their wedding day and I knew I wanted to be a part of it!

Jo + Logan got married at Jo’s family cabin along the lake. They chose to do an intimate Sunday morning wedding. Both Jo + Logan are active in their faith so they wanted their wedding to be small, intimate and Christ-centered. They had their closest friends and family in attendance.

The two of them started off with their first look out on the dock. It was bright and sunny with clear skies! Their first look was so sweet. After they Logan saw Jo and they shared their moment, they had their 8 mo old puppy, Oakley, join them!

After their first look, they got ready for the ceremony to begin. They had an acoustic guitar player for the music. The whole ceremony was so intimate and simple. It was perfect for a Sunday morning ceremony! Following the ceremony the guests enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls from Jo’s mom. Jo was so excited about the cinnamon rolls, and overjoyed by her guests being in attendance that she immediately began serving up the rolls to her guests. I thought it spoke so much to her character. She cared more about serving her guests, than she did about letting all the attention be on her!

Family and friends headed over to the reception after some cinnamon rolls at the Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin. It is a very outdoorsy, and Wisconsin northwoods wedding venue. Jo + Logan took bridal party portraits and then started the reception.

The wedding decor they had is honestly my favorite part of this whole wedding! They decided to have 90s camp decor to decorate their venue. They had little tents with tables underneath each tent decorated with old camp tablecloths and fun handwritten cards on each table. The whole thing felt so nostalgic! I loved that they chose to do what felt right for them and go for an unconventional route. A camp wedding was perfect for Jo + Logan, as they are the outdoorsy type and love adventuring in the outdoors!

Going along with the camp wedding theme, Jo’s brother made a modern rustic bench for them. They decided to turn the bench over and use it for guests to sign! I thought it was a great idea – and so practical. This was a personal touch to an item they can use for years to come. I love that the little details surrounding Jo + Logan’s wedding were thoughtful and intentional.
